Who is Behind The Mask Counseling?

A woman with light skin and colorful, wavy hair featuring pastel shades of pink, yellow, green, and blue. She has a nose ring, a lip piercing, and is wearing layered necklaces and a black shirt with a pattern of skulls, stars, and eyes.

Hi, I'm Sara Rosenberg (she/her)

Licensed Counselor, Certified EMDR Therapy, Sex Therapy trained, Couples Therapy trained

I believe therapy works best when you can drop the act and be yourself, messy parts and all. I specialize in trauma, identity, sex and sexuality, relationships, shame, life transitions, and working with caretakers and helping professionals.

I work with individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, Poly or ENM, or kinky, as well as people who have learned to adapt rather than fit in and who define themselves on their own terms.

Using EMDR and or talk therapy, I help you navigate the struggles you are facing with curiosity, empathy, and collaboration. You do not need to have it all figured out to start. You just need a place safe enough to show up as you are to begin figuring it out. I am happy to meet you where you are at.

No masks are required here.

You're not broken. You're simply trying to feel safe and secure - in yourself, your relationships, and your life.

If you’re carrying invisible burdens — shame, anxiety, trauma, or exhaustion from always being “on” — know your feelings are valid. You are not “too much” and you’re not failing. Your responses make sense given what you’ve lived through.

Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about understanding how your brain and body have learned to protect you, honoring your survival, and creating space for more choice, connection, and your authentic self.

“Survival is your strength, not your shame”

- T.S. Eliot

You are given a safe space to feel seen, heard and understood. I focus on providing care that is:

  • Individualized and Collaborative

  • Trauma - Informed

  • LGBTQIA+ Affirming

  • Neurodivergent Affirming

  • Consensual Non-Monogamy and Kink Affirming

  • Therapist, Helping Professional and Care-Taker Affirming

You’re given the support needed to change the narrative from “What’s wrong with me?” to “What’s happened to me?”.

Once you understand who you are, you can choose who you want to become. And you don’t need to do it alone.

Fees & Payment

I offer private pay therapy for individuals and couples and do not accept insurance. My standard session fee reflects advanced training in trauma informed care, EMDR, and sex therapy, as well as the depth and continuity of long term work I value with clients.

Sessions are 53 minutes and are scheduled on a weekly or biweekly basis, depending on your needs and goals. Payment is due the day of your session and is processed at the beginning of the day.

Superbills are available for clients who wish to seek out of network reimbursement through their insurance. Reimbursement varies by plan, and I encourage you to check directly with your provider about your out of network benefits. Please be aware that to submit out of network reimbursement, a diagnosis will need to be included.

I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots to support accessibility. Availability changes over time and these spots are offered based on current capacity. Sliding scale rates are offered within a defined range and structured in set $25 increments, with limited availability at each level. Sliding scale availability is supported by clients who are able to pay the full fee, helping preserve access for those who need a lower rate.

If you’re unsure whether private pay therapy feels like the right fit for you, I’m happy to talk through questions about fees, logistics, and what working together might look like before getting started.

Individual and EMDR Therapy sessions are $200

Couples Therapy sessions are $225.

Take the mask off, and let’s meet the real you — without shame.
